Our top touring caravan tips and tricks
2021 has brought with it a wave of new tourers and motorhome owners looking to explore the UK from the comfort of their own caravan or motorhome.
If you are about to embark on your very first touring adventure, here are some touring caravan tips and tricks to help you set off on the right foot.
1. Practice your towing
Towing a caravan can be a pretty tricky thing to get your head around and you don’t want to leave it until the day of your holiday to find that out! Before leaving for your holiday take your caravan on a few test runs to feel out the towing situation.
2. Getting hitched
Becoming a hitching pro comes in time, so this too will require some practice. Be sure that you understand how your caravan couples up with your equipment to ensure that it is safe. It’s always a good idea for this process to be demonstrated to you to start off with, to ensure you know how everything works.
3. Travel essentials
There is nothing worse than pulling up to a caravan site and realising that you have left your all important touring essentials at home. From towing mirrors and number plates to first aid and tool kits, there are plenty of accessories and equipment items that you will need for your touring holiday in Truro. 4. Choosing the right pitch
No matter what caravan site you choose, it’s vital you make sure that the pitch type you choose accommodates your caravan. Whether that considering pitch size, electrical hook ups, water supply etc. Here at Trevarth Holiday Park, we have two neatly kept fields that are level and well-drained. We have a select number of hard standing pitches and most of our touring pitches come with an electric hook-up so you can keep connected on your stay.
5. The wonders of awnings
Awnings are an excellent way to extend your living space on your touring holiday. A good awning can make for a superb investment to provide you with extra space to spend quality time together. When booking your pitch ensure you book space for your awning to ensure your pitch has enough room to accommodate both your caravan and awning.
6. Pitching up
If you are new to touring or nervous about positioning correctly it’s always best to get some practice in before setting off on your journey. At Trevarth we are all about the personal touch; when you arrive at Trevarth Holiday Park we make the effort to ensure you are greeted by one of the family, so if you are having any issues or could do with an extra pair of hands, we are more than happy to help you out positioning your caravan safely.
